North Judson’s recently terminated town marshal has filed a formal appeal of his firing. The town council fired John Ramos during a special-called meeting on Friday, April 21. He had until 5 p.m. the following Friday to appeal. Town council members did not publicly announce a reason for Raoms’ dismissal.
North Judson Town Attorney Justin Schramm says Ramos’ appeal was timely filed. He adds the town is required to conduct a hearing within 30 days of that filing. That proceeding is tentatively set for Thursday, May 18th at 6:30 p.m. during an executive session town council meeting. Members will formally ratify that date and time when they meet tonight in regular session, and Schramm will provide written notice to Ramos’ attorney.
Ramos was hired last summer after the sudden death of longtime North Judson Town Marshal Doug Vessely.
