Notes from Nubi: Hoosier Hysteria 1992 Sectional

I've been hearing people talk about Hoosier Hysteria and March Madness.  What I can't understand is why people only get hysterical and mad at this time of year about chasing a ball up and down a floor.

Hey, I do it 12 months out of the year so I know how much fun it is to chase a ball, or run around with a stuffed toy, or even an empty soda bottle (mom won't let me drink the stuff but lets me have the bottles until I start to tear them apart.)  What a rush, your heart beats faster, the blood rushes through your body, you start huffing and puffing when you breathe!  It's GREAT, especially when I occasionally run over the cat.

Anyway, back to the hysteria and madness.  Mom was looking through The Market, checking out what's coming up over the next few weeks, and saw that they reprinted an article about the North Judson Sectional that appeared in the March 9, 1992 edition of the San Diego Union-Tribune. It's interesting reading, partially because North Judson was playing Knox for the championship.

If you're not fortunate enough to get a copy of The Market delivered to you home, you can always read the March Madness PDF file down below, the quality isn't the best, but mom tried her darndest.   After you read the article, maybe you can explain to me why people wait until March to get all excited about chasing a ball.

Winners of the Golden Nugget Contest

Because of the unexpected snow storm we had, Lochlan the Leprechaun gave everyone an extra day to get their guesses in for the number of golden nuggets in his glass.  This meant that Lochlan had to come in on Sunday to do the tabulating and find the winners.  Now he wants everyone to know that the child who came closest was Kristen Chessor and the adult—who hit it right on the nose—was David Watson.

Congratulations to both of you.  You can pick up your prizes at the North Judson-Wayne Township Library anytime this week.

NJ-SP High School Mashup Contest

Looking for something fun to do? Come to the NJ-SP High School Auditorium at 6:00 PM on March 19. You'll be treated to a Mashup Contest (think Glee) with other spotlighted talent mixed in.

Cost is $5.00 for adults/$3.00 for students. Children not yet in school are free. Proceeds from the event go to the Christina Rotering and Ashley Derrickson Memorial Fund for Starke County Cancer. Hope to see you there!

A Special Note From Nubi

Not ALL dogs are as friendly as I am.

With the weather getting warmer some of my canine relatives will be wandering the streets on their own.  Please make sure that your family - especially younger children - know the signs that a dog might bite.

Notes from Nubi - Happy Pi Day!

Mom got this from Facebook, it came from George Takei's page.
Today is super pi day: 3.14.13--no matter how you slice it, it's pi! This pic is a pun: only click and share if you "get it" in under 10 secs. No cheating and no posting the answer in the comments. Ready? Go.
So what kind of filling is pun and does it taste good?  It sure looks good!

Notes From Nubi: 3/14/2013 is National Pi Day

I was snuggling on the recliner the other day and a commercial came on about a movie called “The Life of Pi.”  Naturally my ears pricked up because who doesn’t like pi?  Then mom came home this evening and was talking about how Thursday was National Pi Day and trying to figure out how they could celebrate at work.

Needless to say, since I had been thinking about pi since I saw the commercial I was more than ready to give her ideas.  While not my favorite, there is always:
1. fruit pie
2. pudding pie
3. pecan pie
4. custard pie
5. pumpkin pie (my favorite of this type of pie)
But the pie I would recommend most is pizza pie!  Just make sure that it is topped with tons and tons of pepperoni, sausage, ham, chicken, heck just about any kind of meat will do!  Boy, oh boy; just the thought of sinking my teeth into a meat lover’s pizza puts me in doggie heaven.  And mom is always nice enough to share her pepperoni with me.

So now that you know that Thursday is National Pi Day, what kind are you going to make to celebrate?

3/6/2013 Closing Early Due to Weather

I'm Semi-MAD!

I’m a semi-mad/semi-sad dog!  No, I’d NEVER go out and intentionally bite anyone, but mom won’t be taking me to the library on Saturday for READ Jr. Tail Time.

She said that the Starke County Young Artist’s Conference will be held that day.   Since their program starts at 8:30 a.m. and runs till almost 3 p.m., and ours doesn’t start until 11 a.m. , she suspects that most, if not all, of the children who would come for Tail Time will be attending that program instead.  But she’ll still be ready with a coloring page, stories, and a craft should anyone show up.

Boy,  that Young Artist’s Conference sure sounds like a lot of fun, wish they allowed dogs to attend.  Guess if I have to stay home I'll just curl up on mom's bed and take a good nap.

How Much Treasure in Lochlan's Glass?

Lochlan the Leprechaun was generous enough to share part of his golden treasure with the North Judson-Wayne Township Library and would like to give a prize to the persons -  one child and one adult - who come closest to guessing how much treasure is in his glass.  Lochlan’s glass will be on display at the library March 4th - March 15th so come in, take a look , and guess how many golden nuggets the glass holds.  Drawing will be on March 16th and the winners will be notified by phone.
