Have You Noticed a Difference?

2013 hasn't been the best so far (a fact that I blame on two particular numbers found in the year).  But, since January, the staff has been working on implementing changes to make things run more smoothly.  New books are finding their way onto the shelves much more quickly and we'll soon be adding a listing of new titles to our website.  Gaps in series by some of our more popular authors have been filled in - provided the books were still in print.  A much needed weeding is providing space on the shelves for newer, more topical non-fiction materials.  And just this month we've been working on some needed physical improvements to the building as well.

While they aren't visible when you drive by the front of the building, the library has been gifted by the Friends of the Library with solar shades which will reduce the amount of heat entering from the windows facing Norwayne Field and help cut the cost of cooling the building in the summer.  (They will also keep the staff from going blind when they are working at the circulation desk and the sun goes each evening but that's just an added advantage.)  If you ever wondered what happens to the money our Friends group makes from their cookie walk and Mint Festival book sale, now you know; so be sure to support them in June.

Keep checking us out in the days to come and let us know if we're heading in the right direction.
