Thanks to the generosity of numerous donors, the Starke County Community Foundation continues its mission in offering more than 20 scholarships every year to high school seniors, college students, and non-traditional students from the Starke County Area. The Foundation invites all qualified students to apply for the scholarships, and urges them to do so in advance of the Foundation’s deadline of March 11. Because many scholarships require essays and letters of recommendation, it is wise to submit applications early.
The newest scholarship to the Foundation’s wide variety of scholarships is the Carl and Josephine Wozniak Scholarship, an award that is open to graduating seniors from Oregon-Davis High School who plan to attend Purdue University in pursuit of a degree in engineering, science, or agriculture. The amounts and criteria of the scholarships vary widely, as they were all created by donors who believe in the value of a good education and want to empower Starke County students.
For more information, contact the guidance department of any Starke County high school to receive specific criteria and instructions. Alternatively, call Alison Heyde, the scholarship coordinator for the NICF, at (877) 432-6423, or by email at Alison@nicf.org.
