Owner Fred Heise says opening day is coming up soon, “We are planning to be open at the end of this month on March 25 – Friday, March 25, which is Good Friday.”
He says they’re planning to open the season with “Batman V Superman.” “A lot of people are talking about that one quite a bit over the social media,” he says. “You hear [about] the Ben Affleck Batman and the Superman for that one, so ‘Batman V Superman’ is what we’re going to try and open with that weekend on March 25.”
Heise says plans still haven’t been finalized for opening weekend, but the theater is also thinking about including some Easter-themed movies. Beyond that, he says moviegoers can expect to see plenty of superhero movies throughout the season, including new Captain America and X-Men movies coming out this summer.
Heise says the drive-in has been a summer attraction in the local area for the past several decades now, “That theater’s been open since 1948. Now, it’s been in my family since 1960, so you can say we’ve been a family affair since 1960 – it’s been in the Heises.”
Once again, the theater will be open weekends only at the start of the season, before expanding to full-time operation once schools start their summer vacation.
