Two organizations offering addiction treatment services have received a grant to help expand the services.
Porter-Starke Services and the Swanson Center were awarded the funding courtesy of the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction. The purpose is to expand access to available medications that are often used in the treatment of those afflicted with drug addiction.
Under the auspices of the grant funding, transportation to and from the sites as well as the treatment programs are better assisted.
According to a press release from the organizations, residents of LaPorte County are able to receive expanded access to treatment at the Swanson Center while those residing in Porter and Starke Counties may receive the treatments with that organization.
The medications that are being used at the sites are FDA approved.
