Knox RDC Shares Tractor Supply Timeline

Tractor Supply CompanyTractor Supply Company should be open for business in Knox within the next few months. City Councilman Jeff Berg shared that news with fellow Knox Redevelopment Commission members last evening. He says work on the former Alco space in the Knox Mall is slated to begin April 18th and wrap up by June 18th.
The only action item on the RDC agenda was approval of the claim for $37,497.50 from the Tax Increment Financing fund for the splash pad in Wythogan Park. Last month members approved an expenditure of $80,000 to pay for the splash pad, bandstand, concession stand and restrooms.
Mayor Dennis Estok told members the Knox Fire Department wants to add lighted signs to both fire stations, but it’s unclear whether they fit the RDC’s scope. He plans to look into it and says he will ask the city council for money if necessary.
Estok also suggested using some TIF money to purchase large flower pots to line U.S. 35 and beautify the town. Members agreed this is a good idea. They discussed asking residents and businesses along the highway to adopt them. No formal proposal to that effect has been offered yet.
