Church Holds Successful Rock-a-Thon For Kid’s Closet Ministry

Rock a Thon 2Members of Little Dove Baptist Church in Toto enjoyed a day of fun and fellowship for a good cause on Saturday. Participants in the church’s rock-a-thon raised $1,200 in cash for Kid’s Closet Ministry at North Judson United Methodist Church and collected several new coats, hats, scarves and pairs of gloves for children throughout Starke County.
Pastor Alvin Allen says the church puts these things together, but it’s the people that make it. Without people’s love and caring and donations, no matter what we try it’s not going to work, he adds.
Allen says it’s important for the 14 participants to realize the support they received during the eight-hour event was a gift from God. He says the congregation is small, but members love each other.
“We would do anything to help one another. That’s a church.”

Kid’s Closet Ministry Founder and Director Linda Lewandowski says the money raised will help them to buy clothing for children through age 17 in Starke County who are referred to the program. Kid’s Closet accepts gently used children’s and young adults clothing in their donation building at North Judson United Methodist Church. Lewandowski says some sizes, especially for teenagers, are tough to keep in stock.
