Our Annual Friends of the Library Cookie Walk will be held from 8:30am until we run out of cookies at Bailey's Discount.  Cookies are sold by the pound.  Be sure to stop by and pick some up for the Holidays - and an extra box for yourself to hide in the freezer.

12/7 - 9/2018 Local Christmas Events

Remember how I told you that things were going to pick up the closer we got to Christmas?  Well this weekend is going to be incredibly busy!

Friday, December 7^th

6pm – Madrigal Dinner @ St Peter Lutheran School Cafetorium for a night of music, feasting and festivities.  Tickets:  Adults = $22, Children 12 & Under = $12.  Contact Amanda Ness at the NJSP High School for tickets and details – 574-896-2158.

Saturday, December 8^th

9-3am – Holiday Market @ Knox Mall.  A Holiday shopping event, catered to those who love art, handmade items, and supporting the “shop local” push. 

9am – Backstage Studio of Dance Bake Sale @ Bailey’s Discount.  Backstage Studio of Dance Competition Dance Team is having a bake sale to raise money for the upcoming competition season and “Dance the World Broadway.” 

9am – Altar Rosary Society Cookie Walk @ St. Thomas Aquinas Church (Knox).  Cookie Walk starts at 9am and ends when all the cookies are sold. 

10-1pm - Final FARM Event @ Starke County Justice Center (Knox).  Winter and holiday themed art created by trustees will be for sale and Santa Claus is expected to stop in for a visit.

11-1pm – Lunch with Santa @ Hamlet American Legion.  Each child will receive a hot dog, chips, drink and a gift from Santa.  Adults may purchase a lunch for $2. 

11-3pm – Pets Pictures With Santa @ Grand Central Station (North Judson). The Starke County Humane Society is sponsoring a Pet’s Picture with Santa for a $1 donation.  Bring your camera. 

11:30-12:30pm - Free Soup Luncheon at Ss Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church Parlor (North Judson). All are welcome! (We do have a chairlift to get down the stairs) 

12pm – Feather Party @ North Judson American Legion.

Sunday, December 9^th

3-4:30pm – Christmas at the Center @ The Center in Donaldson.  Family-friendly activities include face painting, live nativity, pictures with Santa, and cookie-decorating. 

5-7pm – Drive-Thru Live Nativity @ Sorrowful Mother Church (Wheatfield).  Drive thru the live nativity scene then stop in the Parish Hall for cookies, hot chocolate, make an ornament for your tree at home, and visit with St. Nick!

Thank You For a Successful Cookie Walk!

THANK YOU!  Thank You!  Thank you to everyone who baked for our Friends of the Library Cookie Walk on Saturday, those who manned the table at Bailey’s, to Bailey’s Discount for allowing us to set up in their store, and to those who bought cookies!  As usual it was a great success and the money made ($500) will be used for children’s programming in the year to come.  Hope those delicious cookies made it home safely.  When we closed up shop this year there were only two boxes left and they were quickly snapped up.

There is a collection of containers belonging to our cookie bakers – some with names, some without – that can be picked up at the library at their convenience.  If you would like to be a member of the North Judson-Wayne Township Friends of the Library contact us by either calling 574-896-2841 or emailing us at lib.norjud@gmail.com. 

11/17 Friends of the Library Cookie Walk @ Bailey's Discount

Friends of the North Judson-Wayne Township Library will have their annual Cookie Walk this Saturday at Bailey's Discount. Cookie bakers can drop off their goodies at the NJ-WT Library starting at 10am Friday or take them directly to Bailey's on Saturday.

Just a reminder about the Cookie Walk this Saturday. You still have a few days to do some baking and you can drop cookies off at the North Judson-Wayne Township during business hours on Friday or bring them out to Bailey's on Saturday.

Another Active Weekend

Well this weekend doesn’t us as much variety in the way of meals as last weekend did, but there will still be lots of food available. 

On Saturday there’s the Artisan’s Bazaar and Bake Sale; Friends of the Library Cookie Walk at Bailey’s; a Second Hand Christmas sale; and a Spaghetti Dinner & Bake Sale.  Sounds like the time to stock up on some goodies to put in the freezer for the holidays.  Then there is also the North Judson American Legion Balloon Lift Off if you want to send off a balloon or just see them lift off be at the Legion (208 Collins Street) at 3 pm.

Sunday there are only two things scheduled locally but they will be filled with lots of vendors.  There’s a Christmas Shopazarr @ Chesapeake Run and the BLPOA Vendor Event.

11/14/2015 Cookie Walk - North Judson Friends of the Library

The North Judson Friends of the Library will hold their annual cookie walk at Bailey's Discount Center on  Saturday, November 14th, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon. 

Come on out and pick up your favorite cookies, it will save you some prep time for the holidays.  Cookies are sold by the pound.  

Be sure to pick up some extra to hide in the freezer for Christmas!

The Annual Friends of the North Judson-Wayne Township Library Cookie Walk will be held on November 15th at Bailey Discount Center from 8:30 a.m. until we are sold out.  We will be selling these delightful homemade cookies by the pound.  Be sure to stop by and stock up your freezer for the holidays.

12/6 - 8/2013 This Is A BIG Weekend For Christmas Activities

December 6, 2013

The Tree Lighting in North Judson will be on Friday evening, December 6, at 6 PM. At 5:45 PM, the Christmas Parade will begin at Lane and Sycamore streets, proceed down Lane to Main, and to Norwayne Field, where Santa will help light the trees. The North Judson-San Pierre High School Band will be in the parade, and the NJ-SP Choir will sing at the lighting. Parade participants should line up on Luken Street near Sycamore at 5:30. Following the tree lighting, join Santa at the Community Building (old firehouse) for cookies and hot chocolate, where Back Stage Studio of Dance will also perform. The Christmas spirit arrives in North Judson in a big way December 6.

December 7, 2013

Tickets are on sale for the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum Santa Trains this December. These trains always sell out, so make sure you get your tickets early! There are still a few tickets left for the 10 a.m. December 7th train.

December 8, 2013

There will be a Cookie walk and a Taco Bar on Sunday, December 8, from 12:00 p.m -2:00 p.m. at St. Mathew Lutheran Church in Hamlet.  A large variety of homemade cookies will be available for sale. 

The Taco bar will be $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children 10 and under. this event is Sponsored by St. Matthew Lutheran Church Sunday School and Thrivent Insurance.

The annual community Christmas Cantata at the Knox United Methodist Church on Sunday, Dec. 8 with performances at 2 p.m. and at 6 p.m. CT.

This year’s Cantata, “The Winter Rose”, is under the direction of Jim Oliverius, assisted by Brian Lietchy and Nan Folkers.

This year’s Cantata will be a complete unique music experience that will warm your heart for the Christmas season. Admission is free, but a free will offering will be taken.

11/16/2013 Friends of the NJ-WT PL Annual Cookie Walk

The Friends of the North Judson-Wayne Township Library will have their Annual Cookie Walk on November 16th at Bailey's Discount Center.  We will start selling cookies at 8:30 a.m. and stay until we sell out.

You get to mix and match your favorite cookies.  Stop in and stock up on delicious homemade cookies for the holidays.  You might want to buy extra to hide in the freezer!

Thank you to everyone who baked or purchased cookies for the Friends of the Library Cookie Walk. In the short time of 5 hours we sold out and the Friends group made a profit of almost $500. In case you're wondering, the fund raising was part of a long range project by the Friends to help enhance the library's genealogical searches.

Temptation! Temptation!! Temptation!!!

All day cookies have been delivered to the library for the Friends of the Library Cookie Walk.  Luckily I have been able to control myself so you'll have plenty to choose from when you go to Bailey's Discount Store on Saturday. Cookies will be sold by the pound, and based on the smell, they will be worth every penny you spend. Bon appetit!

Friends of the Library Cookie Walk

The holidays can fill you with dread.  “How can I do everything that needs to be done before the big day arrives?” 

Well, the Friends of the North Judson-Wayne Township Library want to help.  On Saturday, November 12th, starting at 9 a.m. until they sell out the Friends will have a cookie walk at Bailey’s Discount Center selling cookies by the pound.

 You can choose the cookies you like best and then, to avoid temptation, put them in the freezer until Thanksgiving.  If you buy enough, you won’t have to worry about Christmas either.
