Embattled North Judson Town Marshal John Ramos has resigned as part of a settlement agreement with the town. Clerk-Treasurer Alicia Collins says Ramos submitted his letter of resignation by the close of business on Wednesday, May 31st as was previously stipulated.
Council members had hoped to have it in hand in time for a special-called meeting Wednesday morning. Instead Collins says they will consider it at the start of their regularly-scheduled Monday meeting.
Ramos was fired during a special session on Friday, April 21st. No reason for his termination was announced at the time. He filed an appeal, and a public hearing was scheduled June 8th. That hearing has been vacated.
Ramos was hired last July as a full-time replacement for late Town Marshal Doug Vessely, who died suddenly last April. North Judson Police Officer Frank Thomas served as interim chief after Vessely’s death and is once again serving in that capacity
