North Judson Sells Surplus Items

Published: August 20, 2015 By: Mary Perren, WKVI

The Town of North Judson made about $300 selling odds and ends during the recent town-wide yard sale.Clerk-Treasurer Donna Henry says they got rid of items that are no longer needed at the community center and that were left behind at the new town hall. One thing that didn’t sell was an organ that was donated years ago to the community center. Henry says the town no longer has a use for it. They would like to donate it to a church or nonprofit organization that can put it to use. Contact her at 574-896-3340 for more information.

The North Judson town-wide yard sale is today! More than 50 spots around town and in the outskirts will be hosting their own sales. If you’re looking to have a detailed description of where these sales are located you should pick up one of the maps that are available.

North Judson Clerk-Treasurer Donna Henry explained that they will be provided in various spots around town, like Heartland Markets, Fingerhut Bakery, probably the restaurants like Route 10 and the Wooden Nickel, different places like that where people frequent.

The maps will display the name of the individual hosting the sale, their address and may even include a few of the big ticket items that will be available. The maps are free to receive. The sale only officially lasts today, so take advantage of all the wonderful items members of the community have to offer.

At their Monday evening meeting, the North Judson Town council spoke about excess items in the former fire department building which is now the community center. Some old items have accumulated in the building and are no longer being used. The Council decided to include these items in the town-wide yard sale on August 8th.

The town-wide yard sale is open to the public but in order to be an official part of the sale you must first have proper authorization. Town Clerk-Treasurer Donna Henry explained that the cost for a required permit has been reduced this year, “They have to come into our office and purchase a permit, and the fee is five dollars for the one day, that’s reduced from ten dollars for the town-wide yard sales.”

Maps will be available displaying the different spots around town that are hosting their own yard sales. Henry said there is a final day to sign-up to have your spot put on the map, “The deadline to be on the map is August 4th. If they want they can give us like their top 5 items that we list on the map as well.”

Any North Judson resident living within city limits or on the outskirts is permitted to participate in the town-wide sale. People living in the outer limits of town can also be put on the map, pending available space. Residents must provide their name and address in order to be included on the map. Big ticket items can also be included to get the word out about what will be at your sale.
