North Judson Looking for Demolition, Mowing Contractors

Author Michael Gallenberger, WKVI

The Town of North Judson is moving ahead with the demolition of a downtown building, but so far no one has expressed interest in doing the work. Town officials decided to tear down the building at 205 and 207 Lane Street after they determined the owners did not make the required repairs to bring the building up to safety standards.

Clerk-Treasurer Alicia Collins says the town has not yet received any demolition bids. The town council had tentatively planned to choose a contractor next Monday. Contractors interested in doing the work may contact the town offices at 574-896-3340 for more information.

Collins adds the town’s also looking for contractors to mow the lawns at Highland and Pioneer cemeteries this year. Mowing bids will be accepted until April 3.

North Judson Awards Cemetery Mowing Bids

Highland Cemetery North JudsonThe North Judson Town Council has selected a contractor for cemetery lawn mowing. Altman’s Lawn Service was once again awarded the bid during Monday’s town council meeting, for a cost of $12,000 for the year. They also agreed to mow the lawn at the firehouse when needed, at a cost of $20 for each mowing.
Unlike last year when the deadline for mowing bids had to be extended due to low response, the Town of North Judson had plenty of choice this year, with a total of nine bids being received for 2016. Altman’s was the lowest bidder to provide proof of liability service.
Also during Monday’s meeting, funding for the town’s water tower rehabilitation project took another step forward. The town council gave its final approval to the town’s updated Drug Policy Ordinance. The updates were required as a condition of accepting grant funding from the state. Now that they’ve been formally approved, the planning grant application can officially be submitted.

North Judson to Accept Cemetery Mowing Bids

North Judson to Accept Cemetery Mowing Bids

Highland Cemetery North JudsonThe Town of North Judson is looking for contractors interested in mowing the lawns at Highland and Pioneer cemeteries. The town council Monday decided to accept the mowing bids until March 21 at noon.
Potential contractors will be expected to mow both cemeteries eight times between May 1 and November 1. The contractors will also be responsible for leaf pickup. Additionally, they may be asked to mow the lawn at the firehouse when needed, but town officials say this will not be included in the bid request.
North Judson Clerk Treasurer Clerk-Treasurer Alicia Collins told the town council she’s already heard from three companies interested in doing the work. That’s a change from last year when the deadline for bids had to be extended due to low response.
A request for bids will soon be published in the newspaper.
