Starke County Community Foundation Announces 2016 Grant Opportunities

 
 
The Starke County Community Foundation is reminding local residents and organizations of the grant opportunities available throughout the year.
The Starke United Fund Grant provides funding to charitable agencies serving Starke County residents. The deadline to apply is May 6.
The Starke County Community Foundation Grants award funding ranging from several hundred to several thousand dollars to many different types of organizations. Up to $500 in Community Foundation Grants are also available to schools and teachers.
Students in fourth grade and up are eligible to apply for the Maude Brown and Henry F. Schricker Endowment to help pay for school projects relating to Indiana history. Programs supporting alternative agriculture in Starke County can get funding through the Robert ‘Boom Boom’ Baker Alternative Agriculture Grant.
Other than the Starke United Grant, applications are due by October 7.

North Judson Qualifies for Grant Funding

North Judson Water TowerThe Town of North Judson has qualified for a grant to help the town rehabilitate its two water towers.
Clerk-Treasurer Donna Henry says the Kankakee Iroquois Regional Planning Commission has reviewed the resident income surveys and determined that enough households meet the income requirements to allow the process to move ahead.
KIRPC will publish a notice this week to notify engineering firms interested in the project.
The North Judson Town Council was given an update on the grant application during its meeting, Monday.

Starke County Community Foundation Awards Grants

 
 
The Starke County Community Foundation honored its grant recipients at its 2015 Community Impact Reception.
This year, $221,096 was given out in grant funding, with $74,690 awarded in scholarships. That money comes from the foundation’s 112 funds.
SCCF Director of Development Sarah Origer says eight new donors have started funds in the past year. She says since the foundation began in 1996, a total of $5.6 million dollars has been given out as grants and scholarships.2015 Grant Recipients

State Livestock Grant Applications Available

 Grants are available from the Indiana State Department of Agriculture to promote and market livestock in order to foster growth within the industry. Educational programs, livestock shows and exhibitions, conventions and similar events and projects are eligible to apply for funding. Grant dollars cover things like value-added feasibility studies, research projects, market development and other projects that encourage the development of business and industry related to livestock production, processing and distribution.
The grants are open to nonprofit organizations, commissions and associations with 501(c) status involving the following livestock species: cattle, swine, sheep, equine, goats, poultry, camelids, ostriches, cervids, bison, aquaculture and rabbits.
Both the livestock production and market development grants will reimburse up to 50 percent of the amount spent to conduct or support the projects, programs and events outlined in each of the grants. Applications are due by Dec. 1, 2015.  All grant applications should be sent electronically to Kimmi Devaney, ISDA Livestock Production Program Manager at KDevaney@isda.in.gov by December 1, 2015. Award winners will be announced February 1, 2016. Applications are available atwww.in.gov/isda/2474.htm. No applications will be accepted after the deadline.
