Candidates may continue to file for office in the municipal election.
The filing deadline for the Knox City Council, mayor, judge and clerk-treasurer candidate positions has expired with the primary election set for Tuesday, May 5.
Candidates seeking office in towns with a population less than 3,500 can file until Monday, Aug. 3. If there is more than one party candidate running for a seat, a town convention will be held to determine the party candidate on the General Election ballot in November.
Betty Barnett was the most recent candidate to file in the Starke County Clerk’s Office. She filed on the Democrat ticket for Hamlet Town Clerk-Treasurer. Incumbent Republican Kristina Pitts has also filed for that seat.
Voter registration is open. If you need to check your voter registration or transfer registration, you may do so online. Check indianavoters.in.gov to submit the information. The window for voter registration closes on Monday, April 6. Absentee voting begins Tuesday, April 7.
