Notes From Nubi - Sad News for Me

Mom broke some sad news to me today.  :(

Because the library is “migrating” from one automation system to another, and mom is the one who takes care of the technical/computer stuff as well as doing Tale Time, she has had to cancel my Tale Time sessions until further notice.  :(  :(

She said that every “migration” has some hiccups, usually minor in nature, but she will be the one making sure that they stay minor.   As an example, because of the new system every patron will have to surrender their card for a new barcode; and there are just under 3,000 library patrons!  And mom isn’t sure if they will have to put new barcodes on all the books too and there are about 28,000 of them!

Then we might have to close down for at least one training day for the staff to learn the new system.

But mom hopes things will go smoothly – she does tend to be a worry wart – and maybe we will be able to start back up again in late November or December.  So cross your fingers and toes, wish us luck and I hope to be back in the library soon.

Take care until I see you again. - Nubi

Happy Sweetest Day!

Wow, did the kids have fun at READ Jr. Tale Time today. Did you know that today was Sweetest Day? I didn't. Mom told us that Sweetest Day started in 1922 when Herbert Birch Kingston, who worked at a candy factory, decided to cheer up orphans and poorer children by giving them candy and gifts; now it's like a smaller version of Valentine's Day.

Anyway, after reading some stories about sharing stuff you no longer need/want/use with other people, everyone made Hugs and Kisses flowers to give away. Wish we'd taken some pictures! Maybe I can convince mom to make some when we go home. She has some crafting stuff left over and then we can show you how nice the flowers looked.

Well, I better go now. Just 28 more minutes and I get to go home and have a treat. See you later. - Anubis

READ Jr. Tail Time

Since Groundhog Day didn't come on a Saturday this year Anubis wanted to do stories about groundhogs on the next Bonza Bottler Day that does fall on a Saturday. And guess what, our next READ Jr. Tail Time - which is this Saturday - is 3/3!

So Anubis has been trying to find books with a groundhog as one of the main characters and chose a groundhog puppet as our craft. She'll be waiting to share what she finds with you.

READ Jr. Tale Time Feburary 4th

Anubis was wondering what we would be doing for Saturday's READ Jr. Tale Time. She was very happy when I told her that our subject and craft for the day would be a shadows and groundhogs; but not as happy when she learned the craft would be made of paper, popsicle sticks (without the popsicle), and plastic. Anubis decided she will still be coming in on February 4th for the story hour at 11 a.m.

READ Jr. Tale Time December 17th

On Saturday Anubis will be in for READ Jr. Tale Time at 11 a.m.  While she doesn't know it yet, there is a red jacket and some reindeer antlers in her future!  We'll make sure to get her picture taken and on the web tomorrow.
